SS Racing races late models and stock cars on asphalt tracks all around the United States. They race in the ASA, Craftsman Truck, and Super Late Model Series. Check out the article on my test for this weekend: SS Racing.

Andrew's starting position towards the back proved to be an unlucky place during the first lap when, in the wrong place at the wrong time, he took a side swipe that created a chain reaction accident where he was rear ended and pushed clear across the track into the inside wall. Video shows Andrew being thrown around in the cage and an initial daze following the accident. The car took serious damage and is under reconstruction this week with the hope to run this weekend. Thankfully Andrew's injuries are minor despite a worrisome Saturday night. Although the same cannot be said for the car, a big THANK YOU to the Shaffer's for their support in getting it back in shape!

August 12 was an added feature date and turned out to be Andrew's best finish yet: 2nd place! Starting fifth, Andrew had to work his way through the field without a single caution in the entire race. In the final lap, Andrew caught the first place driver but couldn't pass. In addition, Andrew can boast running the fastest single lap of the night with an average speed over 111 mph - 20.151 seconds. Adding to the excitement Andrew's family and sponsors were present. Visit the gallery for photos of the evening. Note that two dates have been added to the schedule: September 3 and October 1.

Andrew started in 3rd position and took an unfortunate spin but managed to avoid other vehicles. Sensing a problem with his right front wheel Andrew voluntarily removed himself from the race. There are 4 weeks till the next race to work on improvements. Video is linked on the gallery page.
One week after a fairly uneventful 25-lap feature, Andrew took time this week to scrutinize his vehicle setup and take some practice laps on Friday night. After making some adjustments he expects a competitive run this evening.

Andrew placed his best finish yet, finishing 8th. Video to be posted shortly.June 19, 2005
Wipe out! Andrew put in a great race with aggressive driving early on taking several places. Not having as much experience as other teams we ran into our first real hurdle of the season: our set up for the dry slick track was not up to par leading to a couple spins and an eventual early exit from the race. We are working extra hard to come up with a good setup for this weekend's race.May 29, 2005
Following a two-hour delay to improve muddy track conditions, Andrew raced his first feature last night. As a rookie, Andrew started 18th place in line-up and pulled out a respectable 9th place finish despite spinning out mid-way into the race. Showing his determination and focus with an excellent comeback in the last five laps is a great start to the 2005 season.
