First Race for Weldon Scheduled Earlier than Anticipated
Indianapolis (Ind.) December 28, 2005 - Andrew Weldon is set to compete in his first race with SS Racing on January 14th at New Smyrna Speedway in Florida. The 100 lap event will be Weldon’s longest race ever on asphalt.
The team plans to test on Jan. 9th, 10th and 11th at New Smyrna Speedway and Orlando Speedworld in final preparation for the race. Butch Miller, has been named the Crew Chief and will have the support of SS Racing’s Deon Deneau as well as the primary SS Racing Crew.
“I’m really looking forward to this race,” said Weldon, who was signed to a developmental deal by SS Racing less than two months ago. “I didn’t think I would be racing this early in the New Year. I’m grateful for the confidence SS Racing has put in me.
“It’s my goal to just go out there and learn, ending with a clean solid finish,” added Weldon.
