Andrew Weldon Looks for a Solid Finish

Bowling Green, KY (Thursday April 28, 2006) - SS Racing’s Andrew Weldon will make his third ever start on pavement this Saturday night in the ASA Late Model Southern Series’ Pepsi 100 at the Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Ken.

Weldon will pilot the No. 07 ASI Limited, SS Racing Development, Chevrolet Monte Carlo around the 3/8 semi-banked oval. The rookie driver is currently 14th in the championship point’s standings just 71 points behind the leader. With no experience on this particular track and limited experience overall in pavement racing, Weldon seeks a solid and clean finish.

“This is only my third time racing a stock car on pavement,” said Weldon, who previously raced Sprint Cars on dirt tracks in New Jersey. “My goal is to run competitive of course, but most of all gain experience and bring home a clean race car.”

“I’m very lucky to have Butch Miller. He’s the ultimate teacher and I’m learning a lot. I’m really looking forward to getting more seat time this weekend so I can apply what I’ve been learning,” added Weldon.

Crew Chief, Butch Miller has been pleased with his young driver’s performance so far, but shares Weldon’s focus of having a clean finish.

“The primary goal for this race is to finish,” said Miller. “If all goes well, then we’ll take advantage of a situation at the end to win the race, which would be great. But a solid run and completing all the laps will be considered a success.”
