Andrew Weldon Continues Development Program

Indianapolis, Ind. (Friday April 07, 2006) – SS Racing Developmental Driver, Andrew Weldon, has entered into the ASA Late Model Southern Division Virginia 100 at Shenandoah Speedway in Shenandoah (Virginia). Weldon will pilot the no. 07, ASI Limited, SS Racing Driver Development Chevy Monte Carlo.

Weldon continues to learn and grow as a newcomer to pavement oval racing. And he’s in the early stages of a specific development process. But he has a wealth of experience to guide him through every step of the way. 3-Time ASA Champion, Butch Miller, continues to work as Crew Chief & Drivers Mentor to Weldon.

“It’s a process we’re going through and I just continue to absorb and learn as much as I can,” said Weldon, the rookie from Thornbury Township, PA. “The nice thing about SS Racing is they don’t place pressure on me. They take things one step at a time and understand how to grow and develop a young driver like myself.”

Racing can be a brutal game. And Weldon experienced some of the tough luck that can happen in his first two events. But he and the SS Racing team know that persistence and consistent growth pays off in the long run. And they understand that in the hard luck is when a driver develops most.

“It takes time,” said Crew Chief Miller. “Andrew is doing a great job and each race he’s learning and applying.”

The SS Racing team is already in route to the newly built 3/8 mile high banked oval, Shenandoah Speedway. Neither Andrew Weldon nor Crew Chief Butch Miller has ever been to the track. But they won’t be alone as most of the ASA Late Model teams have never seen this track.

“I don’t think a lot of the drivers will have much seat time there since it’s the first time the ASA has traveled there,” said Weldon. “But we are running our own race, just getting good seat time and shooting for a solid finish.”

Qualifying for the Virginia 100 starts at 4:30PM on Saturday April 8th with the Green Flag dropping at 8:30 PM for round 2 of the ASA Late Model South Division.
